The "Golden 10" Rule

  • Wear for 10 Continuous Hours Your NightFit aligners must be worn for a minimum of 10 uninterrupted hours each night. For best results, put them in shortly after your final meal and keep them in until breakfast.
  • Consistency Matters Missing a night or wearing your aligners for only a few hours can allow your teeth to shift, making your trays feel tight or uncomfortable the next evening.
  • No Snacking After Insertion Once your aligners are in, the kitchen is closed. Only water is permitted while wearing your trays.

Your Nightly Routine

  • Deep Clean Before Bed Brush and floss thoroughly before inserting your aligners to prevent trapping plaque, food particles, and sugar against your teeth overnight.
  • Use Chewies for a Perfect Fit When inserting a new tray, bite down on chewies for 2–3 minutes to ensure the aligners are fully seated and fitting correctly.
  • Clean Trays Every Morning Rinse and clean your aligners as soon as you remove them using cool water and a soft-bristled toothbrush. For a deeper clean, use a UV ultrasonic cleaner with cleaning tablets. Avoid storing unclean aligners in their case during the day, as this can lead to stains and unwanted odours.

Comfort & Precautions

  • Morning Sensitivity Is Normal Your teeth may feel slightly sensitive or loose when you remove your aligners in the morning. Avoid hard or crunchy foods for the first 30 minutes.
  • Stay Hydrated Night-time aligner wear can sometimes cause dry mouth. Keep water nearby—it's perfectly safe to drink water while wearing your aligners.
  • Practice Speaking Spend a few minutes talking or reading aloud after inserting your aligners to help your tongue adapt to the fit.

Daytime Maintenance

  • Store Aligners Safely Keep your aligners in their protective case whenever they are not in use.
  • Protect from Heat Never leave your aligners or case in a hot car or direct sunlight, as high temperatures can warp the material.
  • Always save your previous set of aligners. If your current trays are lost or damaged, your dentist may recommend wearing the previous set until a replacement arrives.
