Unboxing Impression Kit

Clear a well-lit table and lay out your impression kit to familiarize yourself with each item. The process takes about 30 minutes, and we’ll guide you every step of the way.

Inside your kit, you’ll find:

  • 1 Smile Retractor Use this when taking smile photos. It helps expose all your teeth for precise smile planning.
  • 5 Blue putties (Base) and 5 white putties (Catalyst) Pull each of the putty cups out of the box, but do not mix them yet!
  • 4 Impression Trays Once you start your impressions, you’ll mix the putty and put it in each tray, so we can get accurate impressions of your teeth. You will also check tray size before making teeth impression by inserting empty tray.
  • 1 Pair of Gloves These will help keep your hands clean while you do your impressions.
  • Return shipping Once your teeth impressions are complete, our support team will contact you to arrange a free courier pickup. We’ll then review your impressions and begin designing the next stages of your treatment plan.

Other things you’ll need:

  • Mobile phone with a timer You’ll use this to time yourself mixing the putty and taking the impressions in your mouth. This is critical to getting the impressions done accurately.
  • Towel It’s totally normal to drool while taking your impressions.
  • Toothbrush with toothpaste and floss For best accuracy, be sure to floss and brush your teeth before taking your impressions.

IMPORTANT TIP!

Before you begin, refrigerate your impression putty for 15 minutes. Make sure to refrigerate all of the putty in the kit. Once you remove the putty and it returns to room temperature, follow the step-by-step instructions in this guide.

Taking Teeth Impressions

  • Step 1. Mix and mold the putty (90 seconds) Reminder, only mix enough putty for one impression tray at a time. COMPLETE EACH STEP WITHIN 30 SECONDS.
  • Roll the putty into a log. Roll the blended putty between your hands to create a log that is about 4 inches long
  • Place the putty into the tray. Once the putty is rolled, gently lay it into the impression tray, so it fills the entire tray – from end to end. Don’t apply pressure to push the putty in – just gently lay the putty into the tray.
  • Use Cool Water Only: Never use boiling or very hot water to clean your trays, as it will distort their shape and ruin the fit.

Take your impressions

  • Start with your 1 bottom impression as they’re a bit easier, putty takes 4 minutes to harden, once it’s in your mouth, make sure you aim centre of tray. Use your pointer and middle fingers to evenly press the tray straight down over your teeth, until you feel putty reaching your gums. Pull your lips over the impression tray and hold it in place for 4 minutes. Make sure you use your timer, so you know exactly when to pull the tray out. Then use the tray handle to gently remove the hardened impression. After taking your first impression, check it with smile expert by sharing its photos from different angles for review and wait for the reply to move ahead with next teeth impression. After confirmation and then make a top impressions. After rolling the putty for the first upper impression, use even pressure with your thumbs on both sides of the tray and press straight up until your teeth gently touch the bottom of the tray. Pull your lips over the impression tray and hold it in place for 4 minutes. Similar to your lower impressions, make sure you set a timer, so you know exactly when to remove the impression tray from your mouth. Repeat 1 more time until you are done with all 4 impressions. You’ll take 2 top impressions total. After you get confirmation from smile expert to mail your impressions back.

Mail your impressions

  • No need to use special packing materials. Keep the impressions in their trays, place all 4 in the box they came in, and notify smile expert to arrange a pick up for next working day and time. That’s it.

Important:

Please don’t remove your teeth impressions out of the trays as if removed then lab can’t work on those impressions to design a treatment and fabricate aligners for you.

Retainers are essential to maintain your new smile after treatment. Initially, you may need to wear them full-time for 3 months, as advised by your expert. After that, you can wear them at night, every day, for at least a year to prevent teeth from shifting back. Its better to have spare retainers which you can order here as if you have lost one you will have spare stock of retainers with you.
