The Essentials

  • Wear Your Aligners for 22 Hours a Day For the best results, wear your aligners consistently. Remove them only when eating, drinking anything other than water, or cleaning your teeth.
  • Water Only Rule Always remove your aligners before drinking tea, coffee, juice, soda, or any coloured beverages. Heat can warp the aligners, while sugars and acids may lead to staining or tooth decay.
  • Store Them Safely When not in use, keep your aligners in their protective case. Avoid wrapping them in tissues or napkins to prevent accidental loss.

Comfort & Precautions

  • Expect Mild Tightness A new set of aligners may feel snug or cause slight discomfort for the first 24–48 hours. This is completely normal and means your teeth are moving as planned.
  • Smooth Any Sharp Edges If an aligner edge feels irritating, gently smooth it with a clean nail file or apply orthodontic wax.
  • Adjusting Your Speech You may notice a slight lisp initially. Reading aloud, speaking regularly, or singing can help your tongue adapt more quickly.

Oral Hygiene & Maintenance

  • Brush Before Reinserting Always brush and floss after meals before putting your aligners back in. If brushing isn't possible, rinse your mouth thoroughly with water.
  • Clean Your Aligners Daily Use a soft-bristled toothbrush or a UV ultrasonic aligner cleaner with cleaning tablets for the most effective cleaning.
  • Avoid Harsh Products Do not use coloured soaps or abrasive toothpaste, as they can scratch the aligners and make them appear cloudy.
  • Use Cool Water Only Never clean your aligners with hot or boiling water, as heat can distort their shape and affect the fit.

Pro Tips for Success

  • Switch to New Trays at Night Begin wearing your next set of aligners before bedtime so your mouth can adjust while you sleep.
  • Use Chewies for a Better Fit If your aligners don't feel fully seated, use chewies or aligner seaters to ensure a snug fit.
  • Keep Previous Trays Never throw away your old aligners. If your current set is lost or damaged, your dentist may advise you to wear the previous set until a replacement arrives.
